Traffic Happens: Planning Smarter for Congestion in Oklahoma
Infrastructure in Focus · Garden D
Henry Wilson (INCOG)
Traffic congestion is easy to see, but the right solution is not always obvious. Is the problem too much traffic, unreliable intersections, school drop-off, crashes, growth, poor signal coordination, or a transportation network that crosses multiple jurisdictions? This session uses the Tulsa region’s new Congestion Management Process as a realistic case study in moving from - “Where is congestion?” to “Why is it happening, and what can we actually do about it?” Participants will see how performance data, public input, land use, safety, freight, transit, walking and bicycling conditions, and local knowledge can be combined to diagnose transportation challenges and focus limited resources.
