Planners, engineers and planning commissioners receive very little exposure to or training in the development of proforma income statements for real estate development projects. As a result, their ability to possess a deeper understanding of the financial fundamentals of different types of real estate development projects is significantly impaired. This session will provide knowledge in the basics of a real estate proforma statement and how the essential components can be affected by various assumptions and factors. The presenter will work through interactive examples of proforma income statements for several project types. The knowledge gained will allow planners to make more informed decisions regarding development projects.
